Our SMSF Setup Process
We follow a clear, step-by-step process to ensure your SMSF is established correctly and on time.
- Identity Verification & Information Collection
Once you confirm you’d like to proceed, we email you a secure SMSF setup form the same day. In line with ATO and Tax Practitioners Board (TPB) requirements, we verify the identity of all directors using Stripe’s secure verification system.
- Application Preparation & Payment
Within 24 hours of receiving your verified details, we prepare your SMSF application and engagement letter for review. Once you confirm and make payment, we move to the next step.
- Lodgement with ASIC & Signature Collection
We lodge your documents with ASIC within 24 business hours after confirmation and payment. You’ll receive all relevant documents for signing.
- ABN & TFN Application
Within 24 hours of receiving the signed SMSF documents, we lodge the ABN and TFN applications with the ATO. Most ABNs are issued same day, though the ATO may take up to four weeks in some cases.
- Opening the SMSF Bank Account
After the ABN is issued, banks generally take 5 business days to receive the registration details. Some banks require SMSF compliance status to show as “Complying” before opening the acount. ATO takes 2- 52 days to issue the compliance status. We provide you with all the necessary documents to open your SMSF bank account. You can check status on ABN Lookup.
- Rollover (if applicable)
If you’re rolling funds from another superannuation account, the rollover process typically takes 5–10 days after submission. We handle the administrative side and documentation, but we do not provide financial advice on the timing or amount to roll over. Before you rollover, your SMSF needs to have a “Complying” status on Super Fund Lookup.
Estimated Timeframe
From SMSF deed establishment to rollover of funds, the full SMSF setup process usually takes 3 to 6 weeks, depending on how quickly information is provided.
